Welcome To The North

July 2017 MOMENTS: WTTN Festival, Leeds Brudenell Social Club

'Welcome To The North' - lived up to its name and then some, as a great ambassador of England's top half of the map talent. A double-stage smorgasbord of alternative sounds from rock and punk to blues and pop via psychaedelic interventions. To be honest, any event with Bang Bang Romeo (above, for more images, please scroll down) included is presenting a Glastonbury Festival headline worthy set, but intimately. A clear indication of where the promoter's booking suss and ambition lies towards giving their audience a quality line up. We are chuffed that ace mover shaker photographers, Katie Willoughby and Nina Almond, were was part of the day and took these intimately witnessed shots for TheZineUK, capturing the atmosphere from some of the day's musical action.

Welcome To The North Festival, couldn't be more timely. At a dozen quid for all these bands, a very warm welcome indeed; THE VRYLL SOCIETY, THE SUNDOWNERS, HELLO OPERATOR, BANG BANG ROMEO, OCTOBER DRIFT, THE STRAWBERRIES, FRONTEERS, DANTEVILLES, THE HOWL & THE HUM, MINT, THE LOTTERY WINNERS, SCOTT QUINN, HEAVY SUNS, NICK ELLIS, POLAR STATES, ...AND THE HANGNAILS

Like the gift that keeps on giving, with the likes of Merseyside fast rising stars, The Sundowners (below), on this same bill. Right now, The North of England is excitingly packed with a galaxy of emerging Stars (possibly some pun intended, BBR fans), ideas and events. It's GRIN up north.

July 1st was the UK's Independence Day come early, as fellow northerners, CABBAGE, The Blinders and Strangebones were tearing the music scene a new one in Manchester, North West simultaneously as The Vryll Society (below) did the same in Leeds, North East. New supporters of the UKs long list of emerging talent, PABST Blue Ribbon beer, supported local promoter, George Holmes, in making this event a reality and keeping the beer flowing.
