A landmark Truck Festival for new stars
SHEAFS, Bang Bang Romeo, The RPMs, Alex Ohm, Jordan Allen, No Hot Ashes, Rozelle and many more join Courteeners, Peace, Editors, Friendly Fires and George Ezra to create a massive music weekend in a landmark year.
Truck, "The Godfather Of Small Music Festivals" (The Guardian) just upgraded to one of this year's most sussed events with the addition of the now legendary rock n roll "zone" added to this year's affair - This Feeling / Pirate Studios stage (full line up, day splits and stage times below) at The Barn.
When Britain's best buzz bands bash promoter and the nation's favourite creative music studios unite with some of the fastest rising future festival stars you know Oxfordshire's in for an unforgettable treat. The entire line up of their stage are already word of mouth, mouse and radio. These guitar blessed bands are a fest-within-a-fest of frantic passion who will BRING it, full on. Avalanche Party, above, for instance... well, let's just say they live up to their name!
Fierce and cool in equal measure, The Cosmics (above, pic by Sam Lambeth) are 1970s punks, time travelled to now, with a tint of 1960s drop-out in their mix, which wouldn't have been out of place at peak CBGBs.
Last Spring, bluesy Midlands up n comers The Surrenders won a comp to play the studio launch gigs. Even they probably can't remember all the amazing experiences they've had on their way to this stage (via TF's Big In 2018 events pictured below, being Radio X's Track Of The Week, and appearing live and interviewed on the latest episode of This Feeling TV!)
Supporting talent yields results. The 21st century's teen years have a wealth of major potential. The Slow Readers Club, Catfish and The Bottlemen, Blossoms, Tom Grennan, The Struts and Yonaka are among a huge alumni given early support at This Feeling. Anteros and The Sherlocks (this year on the Main Stage) included.
Investigate the select bill in The Barn, and you are guaranteed to find a new favourite you didn't know you needed in your life. Yet. Then you will know which tour tickets to grab for later this year.
SHEAFS (below, photographed by Lewis Evans) are very much a case in point. Ridiculously brilliant rock show with soaring tunes, powerful riffs and rhythms plus a front man with some front! The Sheffield based quintet are a musical phenomenom, deservedly becoming international giants in front of our eyes. Trucking unmissable.
Always with a ones to watch roll call, this stage has become a convention of the newer wave music fans, faces and influencers wherever it lands. The after show DJs blasting The Stone Roses, Wolf Alice, Oasis, Kasabian and more roar-along faves until late make this a weekend long scene of love and partying.
Proper Pop Stars in the mix. Don't miss mega banging Bang Bang Romeo who just WOW every single crowd, every single time. Their new single, 'Shame On You' is sexy as TRUCK! (watch the video here).
Hear recent Radio 1 album of The Week (Huw Stephens show) 'Party's Over' performed live by garage rock quartet, The Velvet Hands, fall in love with the poetic punk of Trampolene, immerse yourself in the made-for-festivals festivity of The Wholls and Red Rum Club... in fact you might as well just park yer arse at The Barn if finding the best new favourites is your thing. You'll start recognising a lot of faces (investigate the bands on their t-shirts, too, its all a gateway to a parallel dimension) and make some new friends!
