Tom Grennan; 'Lighting Matches' on This Feeling TV
Man of the people, Tom Grennan, is Top 5 in the charts with his debut album 'Lighting Matches' (Insanity Records), and on fire.
Interviewed recently on This Feeling TV he admits “I’m not too sure what's going to happen, now. What’s come out already isn’t anything that’s like on the new album – it takes a dip into a whole different world. It’s exciting for people to hear what I’ve had up my sleeve.”
It's worked wonders as Tom is, additionally, both Number 1 in independent record stores the bestselling vinyl LP this week! Also in the Irish Top 30. 'Lighting Matches' is a British classic, a very modern take on bluesy soul pop that sounds so much like ambition that this is obviously just the start of so much more. A timely return to TFTV, then; Having appeared live on the first episode of internet music show, Red Stripe presents This Feeling TV last Spring, his beautiful textured voice was requested back for the latest episode.
Between April 2017 and Summer 2018, so much has happened.
Album release week has been hectic. With ten-gigs in one day(!), a roof top gig at London Bridge and loads of radio plays and sessions, it feels like Tom's time has come.
So has the time of the sussed new music media, This Feeling TV included. With around 850,000 views of the show even before Episode 6 aired this month, TFTV is in the vanguard of rising artists, industry and media as Britain's DIY rock n roll scenes and anti scenes widen their reputation and appeal.
There's too much fun being had so word is seeping out from the underground. A regular character at these events, Tom Grennan's is right in the middle of this cirque de surreal.
In a landmark year of key album releases, 'Lighting Matches' is getting fantastic reactions across the board from firm believers and newly won fans. Tom takes it on tour later this year. Talent and hard work will out.
Alongside performing live on the show, Tom talks about the LP, as well as anecdotes about an embarassing encounter with Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters and what it's like to count Elton John as a fan.
Red Stripe presents This Feeling TV is a live music and lively shenanigans intimate gig, with genuine music fans invited to a first come first served free hot ticket show hosted by Gordon Smart of Radio X.
It's a multi faceted treat. Alongside Tom Grennan, this latest episode features guest appearances from Miles Kane, Laura Whitmore, You Me At Six, Spring King, The Struts, Sophie And The Giants and rising Midlands rockers,The Surrenders.
