THE SKIDS hit Rock City!
TheZineUK's reporter, Paul Dixon, looks forward to a legendary live show; The Skids - 1st September, Nottingham Rock City. The band play their 40th anniversary tour through to 2018.
This coming Friday - 1st September 2017 - I will be heading over Rock City to shoot a band that has influenced so many other bands and artists over the years with their honest, energetic but skillfully honed punk sound.
As a member of their fan page and owner of a number of their vinyls, I can honestly say I'm really excited to shoot (and hopefully get to meet) these talented musicians.
Having recently headlined the massive Rebellion Festival in Blackpool to packed crowds, the band have also been in the studio recording new music to unleash. Indeed Richard Jobson has described it as "feral, explosive and ferocious." This bodes well!
Their back catalogue is littered with punk classics like 'into the valley', 'working for the Yankee dollar' and 'the saints are coming', but I'm just as eager to hear some of the new material.
The band are not fazed by belting out the stuff we know - indeed their ethos is one of, give it all you've got each time you perform it and enjoy every last minute as though it may be the last time you'll play it. That's what keeps fans engaged and venues love having these fellas perform.
Catch them on Friday at one of the UK's heritage venues, and see if you still wanna be a rebel. This is a 40th Anniversary tour loaded with songs have truly stood the test of time,.
