Stellar London rock band, The Nyx, will release a song every full moon in 2018. 'Only One' kicks things off on 2nd January 2018. It is the first taste of the band's new material; recorded with Grammy award winning producer, Tomasso Collavia, best known for working (and touring with) Muse. The Nyx celebrate with a London gig on 12th January supporting Manchester's Witch Fever.
It's been quite some 2017 for the band. They debuted this year with an eponymous EP which incited an explosion of superlatives in praise of their potent sound, from mainstream and independent media alike. Lead single, 'Fire Breathing Lady' was named Track Of The Year by taste makers, Get In Her Ears. 2018 is set to be next level. There is a definitely love for the moon in TheZineUK's tale. The Nyx are already one of the names in our end of September Ones To Watch 2018 list so this feels like it was meant to be as they are also collaborative, DIY souls with some exciting projects up their collective sleeve.
New, but perfect for right NOW, The Nyx already have a sound suited to bigger stages, and truly bring this with 'Only One'. What a statement of intent to kick off 2018 which is not only set to be another Year Of The Woman but also a Year Of The Guitar Band. It's a defining calling card Gotta love how the song starts so beautifully (Bono speak; "girly") and delivers a ball kicking crunch of riffs, beats to underpin an expansive tune. This song is a powerful, affirming soundtrack.
Named after ‘Nyx’, Greek goddess of night, this all-female group have been acclaimed for their empowering emotion. In fact, excited enough to meet with their manager this summer (before catching another fave in this story, Nova Twins). In the vein of our recent article The Women's March In Music, it feels like a positive boost that The Nyx are seeking woman powered events. Celebrating the monthly cycle of the full moon seemed an ideal strategy. Bassist, Ruby Lee said: “As the months go on, we want people to look at the moon like a countdown clock to the next Nyx release!” With this moon sized rock start to 2018, The Nyx are most definitely ones to watch. Equality is the future. Period.
