#SoccerSixFest - the No.1 celebrity football tournament - celebrates both it’s 21st anniversary as well as a belief in the very near future of the next wave of career talent.
Rock, Indie and Pop Musicians plus TV, sport and film personalities, will compete in a number of tournaments to see who will be crowned a Soccer SixFest Champion and take home the silverware.
Throughout previous years, names such as Oasis, Pete Doherty, Blur, Jude Law, N Dubz, Iron Maiden, Kasabian, Russell Howard, Robbie Williams, Wretch 32, Metal Hammer and Def Leppard have participated.
Mixing things up is part of the fun.
Mark Abery, founder of Soccer Six; ‘We are delighted to be bringing so many different musical genres back to our original home at Mile End Stadium”.
Soccer Six has taken place at various football grounds and has a history of happening at just the right time.
As Mark adds: “Soccer Six was integral in capturing the moment in the 90’s Brit Pop era. I feel a similar, exciting mood happening all over. Add to this an eclectic mix of rising stars and already known celebrities, plus the multi platforms for media this time. We are beyond excited to be at the forefront of this wave of optimism"
Up and at ‘em for a Sunday kick-about like no other!
Celebrating at Mile End Stadium, where the first events - made famous by Oasis, Blur, Pulp, The Bluetones etc. happened when half of this year’s crop of musicians on the pitch were in prams or playgrounds.
Now they’re all grown up, and have been touring and playing festivals themselves. You may not know all their names but their fan bases are growing, so it’s worth investigating who’s who, as there is nothing like Soccer Six. Football meets music meets a festive feel and a good cause.
2017 is in association with Musicians Against Homeless, which is having a huge impact courtesy of musicians, promoters and audiences who give their time, energy and money to this necessary cause. The aim is to raise funds for the homeless charities Crisis (England, Scotland, Wales) and Simon Community (Northern Ireland); while giving gig opportunities to up-and-coming bands. It’s definitely working.
MAH’s Emma Rule recently posted to their busy team; “Don't know what day it is between us? But we do know to date this year we have 98 gigs and festivals announced, with a lot more to come before kick off on the 1st of September. Last year we funded over 1,700 safe places for extremely vulnerable homeless people in winter, funded classes in arts, music and life skills and put homelessness in national, regional, radio and rock press media. To the team working on this, you are really amazing, and don't forget it!"
A perfect fit for this (always legendary) massive day out, as this is proper Britain, united in the spirit of sporting sport, community, laughter and groans on a Sunday morning for a kick about. It’s an outdoor gathering for The Beautiful Game. When the football ends, all ticket holders can expect to see a selection of the line-up take to the Soccer Six ‘LIVE’ stage to perform making this a big day out. The stadium is self contained. Food/soft drinks will be available to purchase for all attendees.
No age ID is required to attend (except for the 'Over 18s Only' bars to purchase alcoholic drinks). Keep Sunday 17th September free for a very good time and a great cause! (Kudos shout out to SoccerSixFest Artist Liaison, Heather Minx of Minx Media - it looks like it's gonna be a right party, again. TheZineUK team are really looking to get back to Mile End Stadium.
