Pretty Vicious - autumn tour; pretty essential!

Pretty Vicious “Cant wait to get back out there”

UK tour from the end of September 2017.

If self confident, youth-juiced punky rocking turns you on, you’re gonna love that Pretty Vicious hit the road at the end of September. For these very home grown rock n roll delinquents, who uploaded their music at the end of 2014 and subsequently won a place in Britpunk history within three years, this is the next chapter.

In celebration, and armed with new material added to their live set, Pretty Vicious play a headline tour around the UK between 30th September and 5th October. Scroll down for the dates and ticket info (on sale from 7/7). Returning by request to some of the venues (and even including a secret location, so tune into their socials) they kick off with a festival headline at this year's Hoyfest in Cardiff!

Fuck me, we (TheZineUK) are tenacious. In February last year, we were on the rant, as usual: “The mainstream ignored guitar bands have raised the middle finger and sounding grand is their fuck you. Britain can't resist, and a punky rock sound mixed with word, including Kate Tempest, Slaves, Youth Man, Pretty Vicious, Sleaford Mods and Royal Blood are only the tip of a very deep iceberg. In the wings, a gang of bright young things with small budgets, huge dreams and even bigger songs could make a nation, that really needs cheering up, great world players with rock music starring alongside the financial pop success of Adele, Coldplay and One Erection. In turn, creating employment for the cottage industries of support that are building the next music industry.”

We’re not letting that drop. Especially as the cottage industries of DIY power are growing and the likes of guitar band champions, This Feeling, technical innovators, Pirate Studios, and a growing cast of excited, and therefore exciting new writers, photographers and film makers are increasingly making truth of all this.

Fuck you, tories. Summer 2016 exploded with Brexit’s five fold rise in hate crime. Instead of all becoming divided, it brought a load of us closer together and raised the bar for creatives and performers alike. By Summer 2017, alternative guitar bands have topped the charts (including This Feeling tips, Blossoms and Viola Beach), Kate Tempest has had a very direct word with the unelected Pry Minister from the main stage of Glastonbury Festival, Slaves have abolished slavery to borerdom (and also starred at the launch of This Feeling TV in April), aside from gracing the inaugural AfroPunk Festival, among much else, brummie sex punks, Youth Man, have ignited whatever the fuck amazingness experienced last weekend. Right in the mix of all that and more, Pretty Vicious are about to add their tour to what is already a vintage year for home grown talent and British/World history in general.

If you need a quick introduction to the band, then in 2014, Merthyr Tydfil (Wales) teen x tedium powered rockers became Pretty Vicious and haven’t looked back after introducing their rock music to an unsuspecting planet. In fact, as that year ended, one of our industry mates couldn’t make the launch of TheZineUK’s live sessions in London, cos they had to join the music biz scrum to South Wales that evening to catch them, and try to catch them, so to speak. Fair play to him. The band haven’t looked back since that time (and neither has our mate, either, judging from the huge launch of his already now massive new music company last autumn). Some of us really are "all in it together".

The Pretty Vicious story blossomed with record label, releases, videos, tours, prestige sessions, supports and festivals as many a tale to tell. By summer 2015 they were media championed, playing Glastonbury and supporting Manic Street Preachers (another musical thread of this story) at their historic Cardiff Castle show.

Merthyr bred and inspired (check out ‘Cave Song) it’s their rawness of reality soundrack that is helping to shape the new musical seeds of something that you could no more imagine a few years ago, than a nation rebelling at the fascist coup by singing “Oh Jeremy Corbyn” defiantly in 2017. Sure the likes of 20th century rock n punk, and growing up with Arctic Monkeys/Libertines in the ether are influential. Glorious history has fused with now, and the near future is really where it’’s at. The biggest and best music movement of the 21st century is here to be escaped to, and enjoyed. Armed with the experiences of the last few years, Pretty Vicious are in the vanguard. They are lead vocalist and guitarist, Brad, guitarist, Tom, drummer Elliot and, bringing TheZineUK up to date with their latest news, bassist, Jarvis, who tells us;

“Our Sept/Oct tour goes on sale this Friday. Cant wait to get back out there and play some of our totally new fresh tracks. The set is gonna be a nice mix of the both, old and new songs. I can assure you every gig is gonna be rocking, i cant wait.

Saturday 30th Sep: Hoyfest (Headline festival in our Capital, Cardiff)

Sunday 1st Oct: Think Tank, Newcastle upon Tyne

Monday 2nd Oct: Sound Control, Manchester

Tuesday 3rd Oct: Brighton, secret location, we will reveal more soon on our social networking sites

Wednesday 4th Oct: Birmingham, 02 Academy 3

Thursday 5th Oct: Glasgow, King Tut's

Excited to play all these amazing places, we have played, Think Tank, Sound Control, Birmingham 02 Academy 3, and King Tuts before. If these shows are anything like the previous, its gonna be insane.”

Word. Pretty Vicious on tour, Autumn 2017, promises to be as blistering, as 'Blister' (below) and then some!
