2017 rock'n'roll moments: SoccerSixFest

Underground, alternative rock music community are forging their own ways of going forward with one helluva soundtrack.

Increasingly increasingly visible and influential there's some serious fun going on in the grass roots venues.

The grandchildren of the (r)evolution are creating the best escapism ever for children of all generations. It felt like a celebration, when one September Sunday morning, around 500 musicians and their friends united at Mile End Stadium in East London for games of football.

Their presence raised recognition for Musicians Against Homelessness at the music industry's most informal get together. Good hearts of entertainment united for the 20th anniversary of Cup Soccer Six. After the games, Zeenagers laughed and hugged at our little tent . Their inspiration is a power. The "emerging" are the future.

Thanks to Cup Soccer Six (who have been in this tale since Chapter 1 courtesy of queen rock chick/connector, Heather Minx), TheZineUK have weaved in for the last couple of years.

Much appreciation, also, for the hospitality Pococello. (via Pizza Pilgrims, Canary Wharf). Sabrina Settle's food review for TheZineUK hit the nail on the head about the awesome food. For myself, a bonus was the restaurant's uniquly top notch playlist, massive tunes, and the best limoncello's zesty flavour explosion.

That was it. Instant Pococello fans.

So taken with it, that we wanted some fave bright young things to have a try. A party unfolded after a day of football games that brought the music industry together informally, while raising awareness for the essential work that Musicians Against Homelessness do.

In the few months since mid September, the emerging artists have made a definite impression on a year that was hard to make a mark on what with the virtual apocalypse, and all...

A "Poc'n'Roll" day out at the above mentioned party tent... and more snap shots from #SoccerSixFest 2017's chapter in our latest picture book - click here (including 485C, Annie Warner, Arcades, Avalanche Party, Bang Bang Romeo, Breed, CABBAGE, Darling Boy, Dexy, Harley Cassidy, End Of The Trail Records, False Heads, John Clay, Joyzine, Katie O, Modupé, Musicians Against Homelessness, Nineties Mike, Northern Exposure, Paves, Pirate Studios, Sisteray, SONS, The Blinders, The Darkness, The Kavaliers, The Surrenders, Tom Grennan, Vallance Records, Yves and a posse of Zeenagers).

2017. Not all bad. 50 years since mixed heritage marriages (USA), same gender relationships (UK) became legal and the first "summer of love" there is still much positivity being created in negative times. All You Need Is Love.

and a little bit of wide open space...
