Q: Inspiration? A: Manic Street Preachers.

Manic Street Preachers are a culture, therapy, course work, something different to all.

Here we are (from TheZineUK team, photographer Lorna Cort, music editor Dizzy Spell, writer, Rozzie Manic - who Dizzy and I met at Tom Sheehan's 'You Love Us' book launch - and myself) at the Q Awards after-SHOW.

The capacity crowd is a mass of all classes - our united, voices are...

4REAL The Manics are a vein running through TheZineUK story of situationism, poetry and punk.

It is poignant that as their songs become a reality, life on The “News” is becoming a landslide. Also, never mind the 'Guitars Are Dead' mantra bollocks, here’s the contradictory escapism from our collective apocalyptic nightmare.

Grime has taken punk to new levels, and technology has created previously unimaginable sounds, but there are still musicians being born to ROCK.

They can't help it.

A gateway to arts and politics, The Manics consistently inspire new talent.

A rising star in her own (cool as fuck) right, The Anchoress owns the female vocals of 'Little Baby Nothing' .

That song feels particularly NOW during a week that #MeToo is trending. Our situationism is as circle as this venue.

Not only does photographer, Lorna Cort, appear in the video for 'Little Baby Nothing', as one of the Dead End Dolls, but also The Wire points out that (an alternative national anthem), 'Design For Life'. was filmed here 21 years ago.

At that time, The Roundhouse was in disrepair and some of tonight's audience were in prams or not even born.

The prose of these tunes that we are roaring along to, a couple of decades later, mirror what passes for reality in an age of "condoned fascism."

Culture Alienation, Boredom and Despair are probably the glorious highlights of our existence these days.

We also live in uplifting times.

One year ago exactly, from this evening's gig, punkadelic newbies, The Blinders, played Music Venue Trust's 'FIGHTBACK' event (which we attended) in this same venue...

"These are OUR Manics!”

...hearing those words from one of their young fans makes my heart sing ,as does making many friends with fellow Manics fans. Still.

Manic Street Preachers truly are a design for life.

The Q Inspiration Award 2017 couldn’t be more timely.

All photos by the super talented Lorna Cort.
