Kim Wilde - ‘Here Come The Aliens”
English pop singer, Kim Wilde, famed for her global hit ‘Kids in America’ has returned with a long awaited new album. Her first since 2013. During a recent interview on TV's 'Loose Women', Kim explained that her 14th studio album was inspired by a UFO experience, most clearly noted in the title, 'Here Come the Aliens.' Although the title is the most obvious reference to her extra terrestrial experience, it’s definitely a running theme through this LP. The album opens with '1969', an upbeat pop song with definite influences of a rockier sound. Starting off as a miss-match of different songs, little snippets of random, contrasting music can be heard, the sound created when going through different radio stations. From this it goes into a powerful anthem, the kind of song that represents the Women of today, strong, talented and still cleverly feminine. 'Here Come the Aliens' boasts a unique feel that remains true to what has previously been heard from this artist as well as taking elements from the sounds of today. Kim Wilde has created music that is more relevant to her original sound and the style that was around when she started. Songs such as, ‘Pop Don’t Stop’ and ‘Addicted To You’ make the listener reminisce to 80s, and even 90s synth pop music. However, other tracks, including ‘Stereo Shot,’ and ‘Rock the Paradiso’ are a clever blend of the Pop genre that made Kim Wilde famous, blended into features of a heavier sound, with the end result being a something that fits perfectly as a sound of NOW, but retaining a unique edge that makes this album stand out. ‘Here Come the Aliens’ will be released on 16th March. Kim Wilde's upcoming UK tour is in TheZineUK's diary already, You can get tickets here!
