The Good Mixer's great return.

Legendary live music boozer returns this Summer at Camden Rocks. New bands event launches in Autumn.

The Good Mixer is the iconic Camden boozer where "moments" in music happen. It has been the hang-out of Britpop, Amy Winehouse and the seminal rising newer wave guitar band scenes of the last few years, to name just a few examples of it's musical heritage.

Some Music Venue Trust good news, it has been saved from developers!

The Good Mixer is under new management by the team responsible for Magic Roundabout in Shoreditch and, also buzzing in South East London; Near & Far, Peckham Levels.

The Camden venue has a new lease of life while keeping it's traditional roots.

This Irish pub (which is rumoured to be the location of the disagreement that started the infamous Blur vs Oasis feud), got its name from the builders who left a cement mixer inside the building when it was being built in the 1950s.

The story goes that the cement mixer wouldn’t fit through the new doors so it had to be buried in the basement. And thus, "The Good Mixer" was born!

Celebrating The Good Mixer's past, we'll soon have to corner 485C's manager, the legendary Andy Ross, for a book's worth of 1990s anecdotes. Stay tuned for that, we are story telling, after all.

Looking to the venue's future, the live gigs are back.

We're over the moon that the next live music chapter launches on Saturday 2nd June at this year's Camden Rocks Festival with feisty headliners, Bugeye, doing the historic honours.

They are the perfect choice.

Commendation is growing for the band's art and glam tinted disco punk.

They are also applauded widely for their positive DIY activism.

This includes getting behind the #FIGHTBACK campaign to save the nation's small and medium venues from systematically being shut down.

In conversation with TheZineUK, front woman, Angela Martin said; "Grassroots venues are the veins of the music industry, vital for its existence. It is very lifeblood. Without it, it'll wither and die."

Great band, great cause, great festival, great space.

Hooray, then; The Good Mixer is fully back on the UK's live music circuit, and this is going to be an extra celebratory Saturday night on the 2nd of June. Alongside this new lease of life though, the space retains it traditional roots; quality beers, proper pub grub and sports.

In keeping with its musical heritage, the pub offers a free-to-play jukebox crammed with classics of the Britpop era and regular live piano sessions.

Through the summer, The Good Mixer will show all major sporting events (and are planning a street party to celebrate the start of the World Cup).

In Autumn, fresh from winning at The Great Escape with that festival-within-a-festival line up, key new music promoter, Kick Out The Jams, kick off a new (kick ass) night.

The Camden Mix Up will be a best buzz bands n biz bash style monthly.

A Saturday night music social in Camden, with cool bands to get involved with.

Put launch date, September 15th, in your calendar apps, now, come join this party. Tweet your recommendations for #TheCamdenMixUp future line ups @KickOutTheJams @TheZineUK

TheZineUK team are not only really looking forward to London having another space to hang out and make things happen, but also chuffed to be invited to be involved.

Living up to it's name with all the good mixing;
