Camden Rocks with Tokyo Taboo, Bugeye and friends - grrrl power!

"This is the year that women break through..." said The Nyx in January. it feels like we have come a long way, with a long way still to go, as 2019 looms. Camden Rocks Presents ended November with a glam tinted night of rock headlined by the fetish punk riot that is Tokyo Taboo. Celebrating their new single 'No Pleasure Only Pain' they brought an appearance that was no pain, only pleasure, evidenced by the reactions of a packed out Fest venue.

WHAT a launch with Thunder On The Left, Bugeye, HAWXX and Bled The Fifth as an array of very special guests that all were received with great applause. Members of BERRIES, Feral Five and various zeenagers out to play ,made it feel like a very sociable party. Below; Grace and Angela of Bugeye with Kat Five.

Good on you Camden Rocks, by the way. One of the festivals where women are represented without having to create some kind of special token quota. Women have always rocked, good to see it being acknowledged at the annual Camden Rocks Festival.

Not only do Tokyo Taboo bring the (acrobatic!) commanding stage presence, but also command line ups that support their musical peers, new music and femme powered music. Double good on them. Still inspired by Dolly Daggerz being one of the rising underground stars inviting women to also get up on stage at previous gigs.

Everybody on this bill - and so many more we/Louder Women could name - would grace Reading/Leeds etc Festivals beautifully. Caught HAWXX for the first time live, and they were confidently cool hard rockers. Thunder On The Left were playing their first (non festival) show as a two piece, another big hit.

Bugeye's set was celebratory. 2018 has set them up as definitely Ones To Watch for 2019. Their new single, 'Disco Dancer', a radio favourite already, is released on 7th December, the bring their sparkle on tour in Spring.

Tonight is a * hot gig on a cold night ( success, and Tokyo Taboo round it off powerfully, in style.
