Capital of Music?

After researching the UK’s most streamed artists Croydon came out on top.

Musical magician, Nadia Rose, was even honoured with a platinum tube from Pringles! Brit Winner and Glastonbury star, Stormzy plus Dubstep pioneers Skream & Benga, are all connections.

The BRIT School consistently produces amazing acts including Adele, Loyle Carner, Amy Winehouse and Ella Eyre. MOBO award-winning Grime stars, Krept And Konan, have even turned lyrical dreams into reality, inspiring local children to join bands and not gangs with the opening of their restaurant, Crepes and Cones. When BoxPark launched, NME brought our beloved #FuturePicks Nova Twins, to TheCronx too.

Embracing non commercial genres plus better gender balance, feeds the talent pipeline with exciting diversity. Fast forward to The Ends (new festival) also landing in 2019, Croydon Pride and being the birthplace of established Indie media and events, Joyzine, Croydon is on a roll - and ready to rock. Pirate Studios landed recently, also.

Perfect for this Spring's event then. Presented by The Croydonist, a heritage birthplace of punk is playing host to the newer wave of DIY future makers with CroCroLand's inclusive guitars-blessed-fest.

More ones to watch from a star making borough. Local glam punks, Bugeye, have been flying the local flag, catching our attention for what's going down and coming up.

Their brand new single, ‘Disco Dancer’ is a BBC 6Music Radio Recommends from Steve Lamacq - among much else - 2018 has seen them increasingly in demand.

With comparisons to Gossip and Elastica as well as a feisty live electro rock twist, they’ve appeared at some landmark events and sold out their own headline dates around the UK.

Proud of Croydon, they recently told The Grey Lantern (USA) - in an interview with even more of the borough's music heritage - that “the last time they had such regeneration was actually back in 70s at the time of punk. So it’s kind of come full circle again. It’s a good place to be.”

TheZineUK would like to add "Especially on Saturday 6th April!"

CroCroLand sounds like one of the country's best new music festival ideas of the year, already!
