'Truth Doesn't Live In A Book' - Ben Caplan stream premiere
We’re delighted to exclusively unveil the stream for ‘Truth Doesn’t Live in a Book’, taken from Ben Caplan's upcoming album ‘Old Stock’, released June 15th.
Following two critically lauded studio albums, the Canadian enfant terrible returns with a collection of music taken from his award-winning Off-Broadway production of the same name.
Caplan’s songwriting and live shows have been awarded at the highest level in his homeland.
Perpetual touring has garnered his rabble-rousing Rootsy, Folky Blues a dedicated following worldwide.
Holding controversial topics to the light with characteristic irreverence and acerbic humour, ‘Old Stock’ interweaves tales of refugee integration with a message as relevant today as it was a century ago.
A humorous, Python-esque departure from the Klezmer Folk troubador’s previous material, ‘Truth Doesn’t Live in a Book’ is an earworm that will have your feet tapping for days to come. “
I had a fun time writing this song”, explains Caplan. “It's mostly about my own personal theological and religious philosophy. Obviously, it's pretty tongue in cheek, but it's also a fairly accurate articulation of my worldview: ‘Don't count your eggs before they're chicken. Ask for consent before you put your d**k in.’
