Fontaines D.C- Too Real, Review.

Irish Rock an’ Rollers, Fontaines D.C have just surprised us all with the sudden release of single ‘Too Real’ and B-side ‘The Cuckoo Is A Callin’’. The band are about to embark on a ridiculously massive 62 date world tour, starting on Thursday 15th in Bristol supporting the mighty Shame and stretching all the way to May, ending on the 27th in Portland, Oregon in support of IDLES.

Fontaine’s style is heavily driven by lyrics as they all have a strong passion for poetry, and Too Real is no exception. Singer Grian delivers his vocals in an almost spoken word way, leading into an easy to pickup chant of ‘Is it too real for ya’, suggesting the track will be a hit with fans and new listeners alike when performed live. He is accompanied by riotous guitars, giving them a garage-punkesque edge to their otherwise nostalgic sounding track.

B-side ‘The Cuckoo Is A-Callin’’ is reminiscent of their previous releases. The short 2 minute track is narrative driven and much calmer than ‘Too real’, making it the perfect accompaniment to the single...

....And quite frankly, with their incredibly ambitious tour, you have no excuse not to listen to them and go along to a show.
