The Jacques @ Dublin Castle
It was just a quiet Wednesday night in Camden until The Jacques started playing. They packed out the Dublin Castle in an event put on by Modern Age Management.
Accompanied by a mix of indie rock and modern synthesisers, all eyes were on lead singer Finn. His deep, moody, even sleepy voice and his heroin chic appearance, very pale with dark shadows under his eyes, shadowed the 90s music scene in a way that has not been done for a long time. Contrasting to his quiet voice, the other members of the band were yelling into their microphones, creating energy in the room and giving the audience the excuse they needed to go wild.
Glasses were smashed and then danced over, strangers were hanging out with strangers, singing along, and enjoying the rare set from the band who haven’t played together in a few years. And hopefully this set was an indication that there is more to come from these talented lads.
‘Thank you very much,’ Finn drawled into the microphone, before the band stumbled off stage, disappearing into the musky crowd of the Camden Dublin Castle.
