The Black Roses - An Introduction.
I caught this band by sheer accident a few weeks ago at Proud Gallery and that accident made me not only love their music but track them down to chat to them.
Anthony plays guitar and sings, French Val plays bass and bv’s, Mike is drummer and tech support, Richard is on guitar and I don’t say this lightly but what a proper, exciting bunch they are! The sound they create is enhanced with the way they bounce off each other on stage and this creates their wild and energetic indie rock extravaganza. Anthony is a great song writer and it was at a dodgy shirt party (the cheesier the shirt the better) he met Val in a in yer face nerd show stopper (imagine toffee brown polyester with curling long collars and pink teddies). Mike was discovered at Glastonbury in a Gazebo tent and Richard at The Jazz Café. The penny dropped and the ball started rolling to form THE BLACK ROSES.
The band love every genre of music but Mike is slipping in his techno and machine head love which explains why he is a brilliant drummer. All of these gents exude something tantalising which platforms their musical talent in a diverse and unique way. They are gigging all over London at the moment and just keep going from strength to strength. They have just brought out an EP and their new single ‘HEAVEN’. They are setting sail for
Barcelona next year for their first overseas gig which they are all very excited about and you know what so they should be because they deserve the very best and I predict that’s exactly what they’ll get!
