Sol Flare, The Department and Frixion at The Underdog Gallery

In the dark lairs of London Bridge, an electronic synth wave crashed fiercely down on The Underdog, Crucifix lane.

The opening band was Sol Flare. A duet that go hand in hand. Jenny Jones voice is angelic and spine tinglingly powerful. Dominic Woods keyboard playing stands triumphantly in a league of its own. These are a duet to certainly watch out for!

The Department; Rob Green is a true and solid front man who knows how to work his audience. His stage presence keeps your eyes transfixed and his songs are instantly catchy and well written. Cliff Chapman (Founding member of Naked Lunch, no less!) on synth is undoubtably genius. ‘Take my Hand’ is a stunning song that really pulls you in and is soaked with solid electronic beats. ‘Pressure’ and ‘Days of Liberty’ really jumped out at me too. You know it’s good when the crowd are begging for more.

Enter centre stage the Frixion; Gene Serene is a master show woman. An enticing vixen who knows her craft. I last bumped into this electronic songstress in Berlin eight years ago. She is still surfing the electro wave and just gets better and better! Her partner in crime is Lloyd Price. This man holds us by the gizzards with his mind blowing keyboards. The two of them just roll out their tracks onto a sea of synth silk. ‘From Dusk til Dawn’ is a hit and features backing vocals from Gene's daughter. ‘Heartbroke Disco’ is a fork of lightening, electro feast that everybody wants to tuck into. ‘Too True’ closed the show and really was the show stopper and left the audience on a massive high!
