SHEAFS - a bundle of punk FUN
Following on from our recent Pirate Studios articles, we got to catch SHEAFS in the flesh when they hit The Rocksteady in London.
The Sheffield five-piece's feisty fracker of a show invited the instantly full and lively crowd to get involved, creating one of the most full on of opening sets, from the get go. They certainly didn't disappoint; flouting a live experience with more bangers than a sausage factory. Decibels of delight - all the better for hearing faves from t'internet like "Nobody's Listening".
This Feeling's zone is where music lovers gather. Truly the biggest good gang in Britain. Bands and audiences alike. Tonight. SHEAFS, play the last date of their tour with TF (the UK's landmark event and tour promoter, as well as the festival stage of choice for many). A week earlier, they'd floored their sold out, home town headline and now made the most of their first London show.
Underlining the start of the band's most exciting year to date, latest release, the youth manifesto anthem, 'Mind Pollution', races in haste towards revolution (and incidentally was mixed and mastered by Paul Tipler, one of the cast of allies at our St Paul's take over a few days earlier).
High calibre/adrenaline gig, performance, vibe and reactions. Fan delighting new band. Keep an eye on our socials for professional shots from our own Sandy K. Moz, as well as from their own snapper, Lewis Evans.
Whatever is in the Yorkshire water right now is giving my brew of choice, Yorkshire Tea, a good run for it's money on the exciting new bands front.
Hopefully SHEAFS are back in London town soon, and on the strength of their impact tonight, possibly further up the bill.
It was an excellent night with The Velvet Hands and Sugarmen keeping the party going to the last note.
