Video exclusive; 'Pangea' by Long Teeth
‘Pangea’ - the new single by East End band, Long Teeth, is available via Drastic Decline Records from 20th March and taken from their forthcoming debut EP, 'Canned Laughter'.
Long Teeth photographed by Keira Cullinane, and watch the video by another one of TheZineUK’s favourite up and coming creatives, CSD Videography:
Long Teeth: Three people who began playing music together in a tiny, Manor House (London) rehearsal room, hitting each other in the eye with their instruments as they battled for space. They played their first gig in Hoxton to about five people. Since then, they have sold out reputable venues such as Shacklewell Arms and the now defunct Power Lunches.
They dipped their toes in the murky water of “the scene” with two singles: ‘Little Machine’ and ‘Famous Girls’ - self-released and sold almost exclusively at their intense and hectic shows to sweaty smiling people. Talking of which, their live set has evolved in to an exciting and frantic collection of songs. Four of which were recorded with Margo Broom (Fat White Family, Goat Girl) at Hermitage Road Studios in North London.
‘Pangea’, ‘Canned Laughter’, ‘Nice Guys’ and ‘URA Winner’ are junk-food pop songs chewed up and spat out with a barking cynicism and tongue firmly in cheek. ‘Pangea’, the opening track, is a brash, guitar driven question; “Do you ever think about how the world first looked without pictures or computers or people or books?” A childish and idealistic daydream about being alone, away from the laws and pressures of modern day society.
This is a fab and frantic slice of newer wave with multi audio personalities like a rush of aural madness that makes so more sense than what passes as the "news". That's our kind of world. Thank you Long Teeth.
Pangea will be followed up by a full release of their EP ‘Canned Laughter’ on April 20th with a free release show at The Shacklewell Arms.
