Band of the rising SONS

Far from the writhing word of reptiles that are snaking around our world, is the beating heart of the biggest, genre clashing music-led arts movement in decades. It's stylish, articulate, rebellious and personal to all involved. Pulsing loudly in the mix are hard rocking, Brighton based punk soul brothers, SONS.

SONS are building a reputation built on some hard words artfully delivered with hard riffs, hard beats and hard work.

Having won the early approval of more-essential-than-NME to new music site, Little Indie Blogs. In this music movement story, they have been a regular item since TheZineUK had noisy fun in Essex, when SONS played with fellow legends of this tale, Mourning Birds, in Spring 2016.

As per the socially inclusive and tolerantly accepting vibe of uniqulture, we all hit it off after enjoying their show, then their company, and the rest was future soundtracked by fuzzed up punk adventures.

Fast forward to February 2017 and, on a bill with Scarletinas and Cessna Deathwish, SONS are bringing massive grins to many faces of the extending newer wave of Britrock music family partying in Camden Monarch. It's one of their best shows to date, people have heard (of) them, it's a This Feeling gathering and Thursday is the start of the weekend. Right?

Whatever the reason, SONS are on fire and visibly hoovering up new friends and fans. Every song is received with applause and cheers at incrementally increasing decibels.

This has happened at every show witnessed so far, and we've been to quite a few.

Our friends feel it too.

SONS were such an instant hit, kicking off Camden Rocks Festival last summer (Lee performing with a painful broken jaw, and Nick with his arm just out of the injury he'd joined us for a day out at The Great Escape with a few weeks earlier). The saying is "no pain, no gain". The band gained such an instant fan club that straight after their show, they were nabbed for an awesome and exciged interview with The Glass Collectors Radio Show (alongside Sisteray and MOSES).

Smashed it!

By February 2017, when they get in front of a packed crowd of rockers, there's a real back story.

Invited back, as part of the mighty This Feeling, family, they've proved a fresh hit with their debut single release; 'Reptiles', for one of our favourite labels, End Of The Trail.

SONS are a big deal for those in the (good times rolling) know. By the end of last year, this growing circle of admirers included music radio gurus like Huw Stephens of Radio 1 and John Kennedy of Radio X , the latter who they did a session and interview with not long before the show, live on stage at The Monarch.

This is all, quite rightly, exciting. Mate, it feels like nearly everything that is genuinely HAPPENING under radar right now is a hundred times more thrilling than the mainstream, would make a great addition to it's financial attention and future of festivals.

There is a music fan's thrill in witnessing so many artists in this tale win respect and credibility for their talents. If you want to know what a genuinely organic burst of fandom looks like then check out the video for 'Reptiles' - brand new, out now - and "see more" for the media reactiosns, already.

How do they get that massive sound from just two people? Like deux furieuses, SONS are musical magicians. Lee's set up (above) and, below, a candid moment after their Soapbox show (some great dance floor movers in Crystal Palace!)

Released on the UK's influential as it gets independent, End Of The Trail Records, 'Reptiles' is one hell of an introduction to the rocking public and sets he scene for the band to have a deservedly great year. If their most recent show was anything to go by, you NEED to see this band a.s.a.p.

Huge thanks, additionally, from TheZineUK to Nick and Lee who travelled from Brighton to create a live session for us with 'Electric Owls' films, (currently making the 'Tin Pan Alley Tales' movie) at that location's Alleycat Bar. They (and Sisteray) proved great guests, click here to see 'A Love Song?'.

Now, even more in demand, SONS are heading off on tour this Spring and have a new single on the way.
