This Feeling, UK's Biggest Rock N Roll Zone

This Feeling, the best club for current under radar stars and recommended by Noel Gallagher as “The best club in the UK for future rock n roll stars” wins our Best Live Music Club AND Top Festival Within A Festival of 2016. What a way to celebrate a decadent decade!

What is happening in small venues is tearing the 21st Century a new one, right now. The #FIGHTBACK is on and all are invited to the party. Lamestream media's tedious, annual “guitars are dead” articles dribble from some large-venue-set music journalists, but can't stop us and the friends we keep making, being MAD FOR IT! Listen to Music Venue Trust, get in your local gigs of all genres, UK wide. You can see true stars real close, affordably. It is true to say that This Feeling is helping to save the very culture that years of tory mis-rule is trying to tear down.

SO many lively, lovely music lovers and makers in one place. You could write a book just of quotes from the expanding This Feeling family of bands and regulars. While Noel Gallagher was on the main stage at this year's YNot? Festival, he made a point of giving a shout out to his favourite club's stage across the fields. TF's first year there proved to be one where many music fans didn't go anywhere else all weekend! Pix from the event by the ace Tarquin Clark are in of our story, with his (July 2016 events) cover shot of Cabbage taken on This Feeling #JackRocks Stage; (incidentally, driven by excitement for an image, Chapter 11 (August 2016 events) cover, of another band in our story, Asylums at Leeds Festival, is also taken by Tarquin on TF's stage!)

TheZineUK is a tapestry of escapism. This Feeling is Uniqulture in action, innit. An inclusive social of rebels n rock chicks, outsiders and insiders, poetic hearts and vital spirits, day dreamers and night fevers, dandies n darlings that have created “The Zone”. TheZine loves The Zone – (red) hats off to ya! TF creator/director, Mikey Jonns under-stands our passionate obsession. He walks it like he talks it. The British Isles are a major empire (of the best kind, positivity) this last half century, bringing social collusion, legendary moments and life long friendships from the love of a music invented by a queer Black woman. It's all in there, heads back laughter, all the best dance moves of the last fifty years and freaking CHOOOOOOONS of past, present and future classics.

A debt of gratitude to Heather Minx who made early TF promo videos and got an introduction to Mikey for myself and a gig for my beloved rockers, Officer Kicks in 2008 , who I was managing at the time. The club they played was in London's city banker wanker central, Moorgate then. Beautifully out of place due to the likes of Oasis, Kasabian, The Enemy, Britpop royalty and friends buzzing around, and all the better for being so laid back. I got VERY happy rocking - myself and friends got very joyful (and pissed), I don't know how I got home, I miss the coat I left somewhere, wore a beer coat instead, lost my best mate's camera (still sorry, oops!), lost my voice (and my mind, a bit). It was fucking brilliant. I haven't stopped going to This Feeling, since.

A few years later Officer Kicks played at the first “Big In” year (1½ mins of, supporting The Rifles at The Garage) then got tipped on Radio 1 etc. They imploded after their brilliant Citywide Curfew album release put bluesy rocking back in the picture, but fate works in mysterious ways. Lead singer, Jamie Scallion is now a regular book chart topper with his series “The Rock n Roll Diaries” and our sound engineer, Davies Roberts has created the globe's most popular new audio technology, Flare Audio. Big up all the “Big In... tips”

Previously mentioned, Heather Minx Ferguson is a TV/Video creative genius, and just one of the mix of many Faces that are in the mi(n)x at This Feeling nights; Music, Film, Literature, Theatre and even Magic. You name it, the creators, performers, industry and media of music obsessed revellers (yes, revellers, they really do revel) can go some-where that they walk through the door and everybody in the place just “gets it”, gets on and gets dancing.

Over the last couple of years, partnerships with Radio X and Jack Daniels UK have grown on the indie rock fan radar via TF events. We launched ArtBeat events a few years ago, alongside GigSlutz Radio Show experiments at Amersham Arms (now one of the TF venues). Alongside Radio X airplay, GigSlutz Track Of The Day gives This Feeling artists extra support. It's like an extra BBC Introducing kudos, and sits along side the new music sites and blogs that are also in the small to medium venues with us. Media for under radar guitar bands, has necessarily reset itself to the empathetic and DIY method of cross promoting recommendations.

White Room smashed it at our 2015 ArtBeat Autumn Harvest show in New Cross, just over a year on, they are on one of This Feeling's various tours, another benefit of being a TF band. One of our 2017 #futurepicks tips, The Trap, (video below; taster of brand new release, 'Walk Alone') open the show for them on 12th November at our mate Zachery's club, Nambucca. Yes, the words friends n mates keep cropping up. No, it's not a clique thing, it really is an expanding family of friendship.

I'm serious about the social collusion. A swathe of rock'n'roll working class swagger cut through to national festival stages for artists might not have got the attention, or have the financial support to appear at, without This Feeling's official stages. It's not TV personality, Simon Cowell that ,tipped the Viola Beach No1 album that was followed by The Blossoms No1 album, this Summer. It's Mikey Jonns.

It all sounds like something that would have a mountain of gate keepers, but actually, having worked with many bands that have played there, Mikey is one of the few promoters that reply when you think you've got a really hot band to recommend. This Feeling can't be everything to everybody, but if you can take what is happening seriously enough to recognise that it's a landmark show, there's mutual respect for that. The scouted bills are carefully selected from sussed listening, so that people paying money for a ticket get a quality, recommended bill. It's a grass roots, DIY PR, agency, plugger, taste maker, booker, promoter operation with industry and media, grassroots or otherwise, in the crowd. Our hearts beat, like a drum. Rock n roll is SO primal, rhythm section driving and overlaid with go-nutsness, for some of us. Addicted, mate.

When The Velvet Hands came into our story with melody laced punky anthems, fierce n fun performances with pop star glamour, they became a 'Habit' (have a listen/sing) - so, who ya gonna call? Sorry Ghostbusters, but it ain't you They play This Feeling London on 26th November. Facebook Event for tickets and line up links.

When you don't have to pretend that you're the best live rock n roll club in the land, it keeps things unpretentious. So dive in.

To say that the recent DJ set at Amersham Arms by Dom from Peace was very well received is a bit of an understatement! More bangers than a sausage factory, it was the biggest Freshers party in town. pic; Caffy

Image; Caffy St Luce - Swinging into 2017, The Blinders were recommended by our own visual genius, Nidge Luhg Sanders of Trust A Fox Photography. Fell head over heels for their show at This Feeling 1st October, so grinned like the proverbial Cheshire cat when they were a last minute addition to Mikey's stage for #FIGHTBACK at The Roundhouse. Yeah, you bet this inspiring, full on punk rock force are one of TheZineUK's #FuturePicks - psst, their 'Swine' debut single launch headline, same night as the TFZONE10 party, has sold out. Not surprised. From Spring this year; 'ICB Blues';
