Music IS Great Britain #FightBack
Music Venue Trust and Venues Day are two of the more positive things to happen to our nation over the last few years of rollercoaster history and uncertain future. MVT's #FIGHTBACK campaign is part of awesome Autumn's musical inspirations. The reaction from the music community is amazing.
Venues Day 2016 Countdown: Tickets (£10! Bargain!) for Tuesday 18th October at Camden Roundhouse, London, went on sale at 9am, Monday 19th September. Within hours, a fifth of them had gone with not one artist announced to play.
Musicians, technicians, Industry organisations (and even a paramedic) have come on board already. Music Venue Trust are holding the initial early bird price to give everyone who really believes in this event the chance to be part of it. Click here to grab one! It's a (very) lucky dip with so many potential line ups to choose from. It's heart warming to see artists give something back to the places so essential to our future stars. Our small capacity venues are the star breaker circuit.
There are so many good hearts in the entertainment industry and in the venues that are in danger of being lost to the people's cultural heritage. At time of writing, Musicians Against Homelessness events are happening all over the country, too. If you don't have £10 or can't make that date, then keep the word going. Add to or RT the #FIGHTBACK tags on twitter and show your support.
TheZineUK had the most fantastic Venues Day 2015 (images by Pat Pope) repping The Amersham Arms of New Cross in London. We not only recommend it to music lovers of all kinds but would like to see the media out in force. Perhaps TV news there in the morning. The national newspapers reporting. The music press previewing. There's time. It was such a beautiful day, so many ffriends were there, cool workshops, informative tallks. Very social and laid back. The resulting elation from the day helped to kick off the South By South East circuit (with Traitors Gate of Grays in Essex). Venues and promoters (including dates in Brighton and Hastings) recommending, supporting, exchanging tips, collaborating. Music Venue's Alliance is unity in a land currently being let down by division. More things will start this year, too.
Music Venue Trust walk it like they talk it. There is an Emergency Response Team to help venues who are threatened in any way. Act fast. #FIGHTBACK - Unlike politicians, we really are all in this together.
Tuesday 18th October 2016 is set to be a moment in music history. Get involved on line, in spirit, in person and let's turn this year, which, at times has been "Hell'16" into next year's "Heaven'17". #FIGHTBACK
