Coquin Migale debut album; 'Munro', plus Reading and Leeds Fests, BBC Introducing headlines

Coquin Migale - instant classic, debut album 'Munro' released. Summer/Autumn 2016 Festival Dates - including BBC Introducing Stage headline slots at Reading and Leeds Festivals.

For a while now, we've pondered that we're entering a time that feels remarkably similar - bands and music wise - to the early 90's, when "geek rock" was where it was at. Many artists defied the visual and musical norm, to forge their own heavy sounds that transcended the annoyingly over used "metal" and "hardcore" labels.

This became a movement that hopped continents, and inspired us. We are right now, I believe, in such a musical movement, judging by the current crop of rising stars. An album as accomplished as Coquin Migale's 'Munro', takes you back, while being a forward moving, genre smashing, piece of gold.

All the tracks are earworms, and will only bore their way further into your mind with each listen. There are many influences here, but I'm buggered if I can pick em out, which is a very good sign.

Each track ebbs and blows effortlessly and, on some of the songs, Coquin Migale reward you with that fuzzed out guitar "slap in the face" finale you've been waiting for.

I'm not going dissect the record track by track, but stand-out ones for me are 'Gold', 'LUV' and 'Grindie'.

If you like your rock loud, distorted and fresh, I would urge you to go and get this belter of an album.

It's a 10/10 from me.
