SONS

Brighton Rock duo explode onto our best new bands radar with headbanger anthems.

Left to right; brothers Nick (drums, vocals) and Lee (vocals, guitar) Meldrum have put themselves straight on the map through forming their band from necessity and uploading three demos at the start of this year.

SONS' songs proved, so good to listeners, that withing a dozen gigs they've picked up tastemaker praise, landmark appearances (including This Feeling and Club Fandango) and pictured above, managed to floor The Hawley Arms at Camden Rocks Festival (despite being on heavy pain killers and neeeding urgent hospital attention needed for Lee's broken jaw the next day).

That's not the half of it. Now recovered, they are once more into the fray. Debut proper release, 'Reptiles' (at a time when there are plenty of them about in public office, is currently being mixed by Rhys Downing (Pete Doherty, The Subways) and will be released later this summer.

SONS play London on Saturday 23rd July - Very human, and standing up for workers rights, SONS appear at the United Voices Of The World show in London with D Wayne Love (Alabama 3) with Lucy Lyrical, Thee Deadtime Philharmonic, and DJs: Mr Richards (Latin music set), Amy Alsop and Mickey Beans. UVW is a small, low budget, but pro active and effective, volunteer run trade union that represents some of the most oppressed, low paid and unrepresented groups of workers in the UK. This promises to be a gathering of quality sounds for a great cause. Venue is opposite New Cross Station, 1 minute from Goldsmiths Uni.

SONS appear with The Ordinary Boys on 24th August in Brighton, so arrive early (doors are 7.30pm) if you're going, and see what the fuss is about. It's bound to sell out, but advance tickets are available now at WeGotTickets.

More shows are being announced around the release so follow SON's facebook page for the news as it happens.
