Who are M O S E S and why are they special?

M O S E S are giving everybody that sees them something to get very excited about. It just takes one hearing of their music or catching a live show, and you could really fall for them. Dance rhythms, air punching beats, stadium riffs, sing-along-anthems and distinctive vocals delivered with great energy from a 21st century Fab Four. Never waiting for anybody else's opinion, we feel that this is not only one of this year's best new bands, but one of 2017's hottest tips already, too. It only took the excited recommendation of musician, Zakk Dodd, to check their soundcloud out, and one listen to the songs to snap them up for our ArtBeatFest new music expo in April. Very kindly they said yes.

Since coming together and playing their first show in Spring 2015, Matt (drums), Scott (bass), Juno (guitar) and Victor (vocals) have gigged intensely and quite obviously developed, immensely into a mean, lean, rocking machine. There's no point comparing them to anybody, other than a fantastic band of friends that let the good time roll. This is raw energy at decibels.

We are dreamers. In TheZineUK multiverse, the fantastic artists that come to play for us and weave into our story are important. Real stars that deserve to twinkle to as wide an audience as possible. There are no laws (yet) to say that dreamers are wrong. Passion recognises passion and we instinctively feel that M O S E S exude joy from the stage which is mirrored by their audience of whatever size. It comes from a great love for what they do. Conviction with confidence but without the tedium cool clique cliché feels refreshing and invites new fans to get involved.

M O S E S have been taking their show all over London (and, last month, outta town), letting people in small venues decide for themselves if the band have great potential or not. A small but consistent amount of followers for their DIY punk self-marketing is swelling on line. Having seen them a few times now, it's obviously a thumbs up from a firm foundation of followers at their shows, too. Tight enough to be loose when the music takes them over, their high energy multiplied by roar-along glam punk sound, equals Entertainers ready for any size stage. This is a classic year for music, and one to make a mark on.

M O S E S were off to a flying start, getting a slot at Camden Rocks Festival and uploading the demo for 'Cause You Got Me', meant that 2016 started a speed dating step up, within a year of the band forming, which, in March, is where they came into our story instant, garage rock impact. A huge thanks to the band from ourselves and ArtBeatFest collaborators for coming to play on April 2nd. With our live events department having previously showcased favourite tips like Bloc Party, Kate Tempest and Tinie Tempah it was another chance to stage a mini festival of recommendations and connect some of the lovely hearts of DIY music anti scene. Most importantly, friendly and a lot of fun. Feedback and results will keep coming until Autumn at http://hyperurl.co/ArtBeatFest

M O S E S smashed it on the Amersham Arms stage in front of a mix of music fans, musicians, bloggers and industry, grassroots and otherwise, setting even more tongues wagging about them. Pix are linked at our picture book, with a DIY video bootleg clip. The media allies supporting the talent (Joyzine, Clark Kent's Rock n Roll Revue, Eskile Photography and more) agreed that the line up all had something special.

M O S E S were a star turn. “A set of legend” said our co-promoter site; Kitmonster and here is just a fraction of what Jimmy Bowman of The Glass Collectors Radio Show podcast had to say about them... (below, two minute video clip teaser of The Glass Collectors ArtBeatFest special)

In mid April M O S E S got Radio X play from John Kennedy, then a week or so later, again from Phil Clifton, recently picking up more independent play.

We caught them supporting Dead Belles at The George Tavern on Record Store Day. The audience were, again, cheering just how good this show is. Enough to thrill our inner school child.

Now, that's Entertainment.

SO. MUCH. FUN.

There was a free gig up the East London Line at the Old Blue Last - music to our (skint) ears - around three weeks later and, hey ho! Lets go to another show!

Bump into long-time-no-see-friends. Various music and industry faces are out to enjoy the vibes. Nobody leaves disappointed. It's not a fluke, M O S E S really are that good.

We have a quick chat with the band after the gig, but having fallen on my (still healing) face at Portobello Live Festival a week earlier, I know I should leave while I'm still sober and not talking too much rubbish.

TheZineUK posse are already excited for whatever happens next for M O S E S, hope that all their dreams come true and wish them the very best of luck and love. Anybody with a mountain sized slice of rock about friendship - 'Cause You Got Me' – in this day and age, is a very welcome antidote to the negativity in modern life. It is also one of this year's defining tunes, so I thought I would recommend the band to anybody that will listen.
