The Rise of the Cliteratii.

I remember reading a music rag when I was younger and being struck by a quote from Noel Gallagher... “Women can’t play guitar, but they can get a good shine on them.”

This backwards idea may not be helped by the misogynist mainstream pop industry, who sell women as dumb eye candy with come-fuck-me-voices and keep secret the fact that singers such as Kesha are members of MENSA because they fear it would ruin her image as an all singing, all pouting sex doll for the masses, because god forbid you ruin a sexual fantasy with an intelligent debate about the Middle East! “People say that women can’t play guitar as well as men, but I don’t play guitar with my fucking vagina… so what difference does it make?” – Brody Dalle.

Thankfully, there’s a second coming on the music scene today, people like Courtney Love and Kathleen Hanna didn’t bruise in vain.

Zine regulars like Nova Twins, deux furieuses, Saint Agnes, Tara Rez’s The Duel , The Featherz and the gorgeous Queen of Clit Rock; Dana Jade, are all proving that women have a voice and they’ll be damned if they cannot use it.

The Sex Pissed Dolls are showing that they can cause anarchy just as much as any Sex Pistol and do it in high heels too. (I’d love to see Johnny Rotten try and take on the world in a pair of ankle busting stilettos!)

The Queen of Punk, Beki Bondage, is still raging in Vice Squad – and looking as beautiful and age-defying as ever.
