Basement Jaxx, Tramlines Festival Saturday Night. Proper!

Rolo Tomassi

Sheffield is home to some of the hottest talent (heck, some of their photography and journalism talent are part of #TheZineUK story) and some of the coolest events; Tramlines, the annual three day, Inner City Music Festival, being a big part of that.

Sugar Hill Gang

2015 was the biggest yet for the line-up (Music legends, Martha Reeves and The Sugar Hill Gang are here!) and in size. Over 70 venues at least and tens and thousands of revellers, again, the most so far.

There were few hic-cups like Wu Tang Clan's last minute no-show, some typically British summer rain but Tramlines more than made up for it.

Mobb Deep

Basement Jaxx, Mobb Deep and De La Soul brought the PARTY and there were so many awesome and credible acts on the bill (Kate Tempest and Slaves, very in demand festival favourites) – which included a slew of free events (some in unusual places) so that EVERYBODY can participate. An unmitigated success.

Kate Tempest

Urban festivals with this kind of inclusion, like The Great Escape in Brighton, are a chance to catch many established favourites and emerging names in one city, while soaking up a highly creative, quirky and fun atmosphere over a weekend.

Ghostpoet

The realistic ticket price is worth having a weekend break in Sheffield for. Every single person who goes has a completely unique adventure.

At a time when Britain's live music industry and venues need all the support that they can get, and festivals need to nurture potential future headliners, Tramlines is doing a great job.

De La Soul

As previously mentioned in The Zine, local bands like Bang Bang Romeo, Spears, Rolo Tomassi , The Sherlocks and October Drift are part of a bigger picture that Tramlines is framing nicely.

Bang Bang Romeo

With a musical heritage that already includes The Human League, Reverend And The Makers, Pulp and Acrtic Monkeys, the Steel City is turning out pure gold.

Blessa and Slaves
